Mark Thorogood

Mark Thorogood is a highly accomplished reinsurance leader with more than 25 years of industry experience. As Head of Reinsurance at MSIG USA, Mark is responsible for overseeing the company’s ceded reinsurance strategy, including the placement and management of reinsurance coverage across domestic and international markets. With extensive expertise in global risk strategies and reinsurance innovation, Mark is well-positioned to drive growth and enhance MSIG USA’s global reinsurance relationships. 

Before bringing his expertise to MSIG USA, Mark held key leadership positions in reinsurance. Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President and Ceded Reinsurance Director at Sompo International, overseeing reinsurance strategy for Property, Casualty and Specialty lines. His career also includes senior underwriting roles at Zurich Re and Alea London, Ltd., where he gained extensive experience in both assumed and ceded reinsurance operations across multiple markets. Mark holds a BA in Economics from the University of Portsmouth and an Associateship of the Chartered Institute of Insurance (ACII).
