To our Valued Customers and Producers,

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to pose challenges across the business community and our society as a whole. We at MSIG want you to know that the health and safety of our customers, employees and business counterparties is a significant concern and a priority for us. In that regard, we wish to share with you some of the important steps we have taken, and continue to take, to meet the challenges posed by COVID-19.

First and foremost, MSIG maintains a robust Business Continuity Plan, which is well designed to meet a wide array of emergent situations. Our Business Continuity Plan includes, as a specific area of focus, preparations for dealing with highly contagious infectious diseases that have the potential to create pandemic conditions. We have been actively reviewing and are already following parts of our Business Continuity Plan, which includes:

  • Identification of critical business functions and staff required to operate these functions in the event of an ongoing pandemic.
  • Triage of events and risk-based activation of plans related to pandemic.
  • Human Resources support, including preventive guidance for employees, telecommuting/work-from-home solutions, social distancing in the workplace, alternative work locations, protocol for employees who are ill, and the like.
  • Logistics and infrastructure support.
  • Reduction in non-essential business travel; conduct of business meetings remotely, where feasible.
  • Sanitizing products, face masks and other safety items at offices and enhanced activities to sanitize our office locations.
  • Support from essential external service providers and external business and internal constituencies, as needed.
  • Ongoing monitoring and implementation of recommendations from public health authorities, including the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), State and local health departments, and the like.
  • Communication with our external and internal constituencies, as needed.

Our Pandemic Response Committee, reporting to our Chief Executive Officer and President/Chief Operating Officer, is responsible for managing all aspects of our business continuity and recovery activities until the pandemic ends. Additionally, a Pandemic Response Team handles day-to-day implementation of our Business Continuity Plan, including activation of specific aspects of the Plan as appropriate, monitoring and day-to-day business decision-making. The Pandemic Response Team is led by senior management, with support teams as needed from Human Resources, Risk Engineering, Legal & Compliance, Communications, Information Technology and Facilities.

Finally, for the benefit of you, our Valued Customers and Producers, our Risk Engineering Department has issued Risk Engineering Safety Bulletins containing Pandemic Influenza and coronavirus Preparedness Checklist. For more information or to obtain a copy of the Safety Bulletins, please contact our Risk Engineering Department, RiskEngineering@msigusa.com.

Please know that we will continue to work hard to monitor and protect the health and safety of our employees and visitors so that we continue to provide essential insurance and claim services in the face of COVID-19.
