Position Overview:

The Guidewire Developer is responsible for providing leadership and hands-on participation in the configuration and development, primarily of our ClaimCenter application, and additionally for our Guidewire Insurance Suite implementation.  Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely with internal technical teams and customers, plus external vendor partners.  Opportunity to help in formulating company’s Guidewire and overall application architecture.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Analyze, design, develop, and test Guidewire configurations and enhancements in accordance with company standards.
  • Deliver projects on-schedule, on-scope and within budget.
  • Work with internal customers to design, develop, configure, and maintain complex integrations working within the Guidewire software integration frameworks.
  • Provide technical troubleshooting, support and resolution to Guidewire application issues.
  • Create and maintain documentation, including: business requirements, functional designs, technical designs, implementation plans, and user guides.
  • Assist and mentor others in programming and configuration of Guidewire Insurance Suite applications.
  • Prioritize and respond to business user’s questions and requests in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Provide level of effort estimates for new development, fixes and enhancements, including identification of high level tasks and resource requirements.
  • Participate in the analysis and requirements gathering processes and develop design specifications.
  • Perform unit testing and peer code reviews.
  • Support the training of end-users and provide technical assistance when needed
  • Compliance with all aspects of the SDLC, from requirements definition through production support, as required in our regulated and audited industry.
  • Engage in external Guidewire developer user communities to learn and bring best practices to our team.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Sciences or related field of study from four-year College or University.
  • 3+ years’ experience developing in one of the Guidewire applications: PolicyCenter, ClaimCenter (highly preferred), or BillingCenter required.
  • 3+ years’ experience utilizing Gosu, Java, and Guidewire Studio required.
  • Prior experience using source code management tools for version control.
  • Experience with DevOps tools and methodology, such as Azure DevOps or Jenkins, to perform continuous integration/continuous delivery and deployment.
  • Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL, relational and dimensional database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
  • Experience with ETL/data integration methods and development.
  • Ability to function and enjoy working in a fast paced, small team environment.
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum project management methodology and tracking tools such as Rally.
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, facilitation and consensus building skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Insurance industry (Commercial Property & Casualty) experience is a strong plus.
  • Guidewire Customer Engage and Guidewire Cloud experience a plus.
