MSIG has made a change to our California Medical Provider Network (CA MPN) based on our partnership with Bunch & Associates. The new CA MPN is fully compliant with state Workers’ Compensation Regulations. Experience has shown that injured workers outcomes can be maximized through MPN controlled medical utilization.

Benefits of the CA MPN are:

• Employer Medical Control for the Life of the Claim

• Earlier return to work – state documented

• Lower medical costs – state documented

• Reduced litigation through internal dispute resolution process

• Access to care within 24 hours

• Limited provider change once in program

• Limits initial provider selection. Employee risks suspension of compensation benefits if treatment received from a non-network physician

• No ceiling on control of care, as long as specialty is certified

• Network discounts

• Utilization Review is mandated

Bunch & Associates will manage the application and implementation of the CA MPN for MSIG. They will provide the initial directory and provide quarterly updates if needed

If you have previously enrolled your employees in the current Medical Provider Network, MSIG earnestly requests your cooperation in making this notification of this change to your employees by 3/1/09. The change will go into effect on 4/1/09; state law requires a prior 30 day notice to your employees of the change or 30 days prior to the initial enrollment.

If your company is not currently participating in the MPN we sincerely request you immediately begin the enrollment process in order to take advantage of this opportunity to control workers’ compensation cost and at the same time provide quality medical care to your injured workers. As indicated above, the change notice and/or enrollment must be done by 3/1/09.

What needs to be done?

The Employee Notice Letter must be provided to:

• All current California employees

• New California hires

• MISG will provide a reminder notice the employee once the injury has been reported to MSIG

This will serve to educate the employees regarding the MPN and advise them how they can access the MPN network.

The Employee Notification from provides a detailed overview of the requirements of the MPN and provides you and your employees with the contact information for assistance with your Bunch & Associates representative and how to locate a medical provider in the Bunch & Associates MPN.
